Alright villagers, gather ’round! Lets get this 2024 FindUsCamping West Crawl started!

The 2024 FindUsCamping West Crawl kicked off today, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride right from the start. Picture this: four rigs, cruising down the highway like something out of a Mad Max movie. We refueled at a our favorite fuel stop, Loves. The fluorescent lights making our already clean trucks look even more stunning all lined up together.

This crew, though? United by the passion for the great outdoors, a thirst for adventure, and a serious case of excitement. Our first stop? Wythe Raceway in Virginia, a Harvest Hosts spot with the promise of dirt track racing – the kind that gets your heart pumping and adrenaline soaring.

The 2024 FindUsCamping West Crawl to Wythe County was a breeze, except for the occasional shout over our Rapid Radio’s: “Heads up, car on side of the road, big bump coming up!” As we pulled into the Wythe Raceway with visions of screeching tires and checkered flags dancing in our heads. But guess what? Mother Nature, it seems, had other plans. As we were setting up camp, one of the crew dropped a bomb: the race was postponed! Apparently, a scheduling conflict with another race meant the dirt track gods wouldn’t be blessing us with tire-shredding glory tonight.

But hey, silver linings, right?

The race would be rescheduled for Sunday, a supersized event combining both Saturday and Sunday’s races. A full day of dirt-slinging mayhem? Now that’s what I’m talking about!

With racing plans on hold, our stomachs started growling. Now, food options in this area were, well, let’s just say limited. But that’s part of the adventure, isn’t it? After some frantic phone googling (“Mexican food could be good!. We found a beacon of hope: El Burrito Loco. A Mexican restaurant with a 4.5-star google review. As we arrive we found out it was tucked away in a gas station? Sold.

There’s something undeniably cool about an eatery inside a gas station.

2024 FindUsCamping West Crawl went to mexican for dinner.

It screams “hidden gem,” a greasy spoon haven for travelers that might surprise you. And let me tell you, El Burrito Loco didn’t disappoint. Although we were skeptical at first, we didn’t let the fact that seating was limited and it was in a gas station stop our excitement about Mexican food!(“Are we sure about this?”), all of our doubts vanished as we settled into a makeshift banquet (huge props to the staff for fitting in our group of 12!). The food was good – fresh, flavorful, and exactly what the doctor (or in this case, the off-road enthusiast) ordered. Most importantly, the laughter that filled the air was pure joy. We shared stories, made plans, and solidified the bond between fellow FindUsCamping crawlers.

By the time we got back to our campsites, our bellies were full and our spirits were high. Sure, the racing might have been delayed, but who needs checkered flags when you have good company, delicious food, and a shared love for the open road? Tomorrow promises a full day of dirt track action at Wythe Raceway, and we can’t wait! Stay tuned for more FindUsCamping West Crawl misadventures (and hopefully, some epic racing) in following day to come!
